JANEEN DAVIS

Dr. Janeen Davis joined the EMBC family as the Director of Lighthouse Counseling Ministry in 2021. Before that, she spent the past decade living in several Asian countries and serving with our international missions agency, leading a team of professional and pastoral counselors who provide care, support, training, and consulting for missionaries throughout Asia. Due to the pandemic in 2020, she gradually transitioned back to the U.S., and currently splits her time ministering in the Nashville and Knoxville areas. Prior to living overseas, she grew up in Iowa and has lived in several other areas of the U.S. as well.

Dr. Davis earned her B.S. in Education and Music from the University of Iowa, her M.A. in Marriage and Family Therapy from Liberty University, her Psy.D. in Clinical Psychology from California Southern University, and also received theological education from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and Malaysian Baptist Theological Seminary. Over the years, she has worked in fields of Christian music ministry, computer and technology sales, overseas evangelism, individual and family clinical therapy, wilderness therapy, pastoral counseling services, and organizational consulting and training. She now is founder and president of Purpose & Peace Solutions, through which she provides specialized ministry services to individuals, churches, and Christian organizations.

In 2020, the Covid-19 pandemic relocated Dr. Davis from overseas ministry to new areas of service and outreach based in Tennessee, while still providing online Member Care support and training for overseas workers. Dr. Davis partners with Peace Pursuit International to equip Christians and ministry groups around the world with training in biblical conflict resolution and spiritual discipleship. She also serves as the Director of the Lighthouse Counseling Ministry for EMBC, where she oversees and supports the training and provision of biblical counseling and care for individuals and families in the local community.

In her free time, Dr. Davis loves walking and talking with friends in beautiful nature settings, long-distance international backpacking trips, cheering for her friends’ children at soccer games, listening to podcasts and audiobooks, backyard campfires, and searching for amazing new restaurants everywhere she goes. Her favorite passage of Scripture is one that helps her make sense of her own unorthodox life pursuits: Hebrews 11:13-16 describes life as a nomad’s journey away from our birthplace toward an eternal homeland: the only place we will ever truly belong or be satisfied. Those who have traveled this path refused the fleeting pleasures and securities of this world, and so they pressed onward, throughout their lives, longing for the place they were created for.
