DAVID & JAMYE BYRD

In 2021, the Byrds relocated from Oak Island North Carolina to Knoxville Tennessee and joined EMBC shortly after.

David was born in Rocky Mount North Carolina and raised in Raleigh. He worked for the North Carolina Department of Transportation for 30 years as a technician in a construction office. After retiring, he joined Volkert and continues to work part-time as a consultant for DOT. Jamye was born and raised in Arkansas and went back to college in her late 30s to become a sign language interpreter and begin a deaf ministry at her church. She holds national certification as a sign language interpreter and specializes in medical interpreting in various clinical settings. Jamye accepted Jesus at the age of 21.

David and Jamye married in 2008 and moved to the coast. They were active members of Beach Road Baptist church. In May of 2018, when it looked as if their marriage was over, God stepped in and did what only He could do. Over the next two years, the long and difficult task of working to restore their marriage continued. During this time David surrendered his life to Jesus. Through daily devotions together, being discipled,  and surrendering everything to Jesus, He brought beauty from ashes. David then began to lead a discipleship group and opened his heart to others struggling with sexual sin. Jamye used her story and it's struggles to encourage women to be on their faces before the Lord in prayer for their husbands. Although very few people knew of their story, their Pastor encouraged them to give their testimony before the church.  After that, their testimony began to be used in various settings and God laid several couples on their hearts who they are continuing to pray for daily.

The Byrds joined Lighthouse Counseling Ministry because they believe that God has called them to use their testimony as a witness to God's ability to heal marriages in crisis. Their goal is to help couples work through the process of restoring and rebuilding marriages in crisis by putting Jesus first and each other second and to encourage accountability for issues that can destroy the marriage. Their focus in counseling is on sexual sins, trust issues, transparency, forgiveness, and accountability

The Byrds have three grown children and four grandchildren between them. Some of their favorite scriptures are " I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13) and "God calls us to comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves received from God” (2 Corinthians 1:4).
